The Amazing Street Art in Bunbury Western Australia
The sheer volume of street art in Bunbury has helped the region become a must-stop for art lovers, so we knew, even though we were on a tight schedule there was no way we should drive past without at least a short visit.

Bunbury is two hours south of Perth and a great stop on your way south to Margaret River, which is only 40 minutes down the road. There are a bunch of reasons to visit the area, including the beautiful beaches, but for us, the main reason we stopped was to check out the fabulous street art.
Spanning the walls and laneways of Bunbury are 40+ large scale murals by local and international artists including Rone, Beastman, Fintan Magee, Stormie Mills and Kyle Hughes-Odgers. Created over six years of annual street art festivals, the town now boasts an almost five-kilometre street art trail.
Your first stop should be the local visitors’ centre which you will find at the Old Railway Station in Haley Street. This is where we picked up our street art map and got some great local advice on where to eat.
You can cover most of the murals in a couple of hours – the perfect time to stretch your legs – but the area could easily keep you entertained for a weekend or more.
We parked by the gorgeous old Rose hotel built in1865, this state-heritage-listed building was restored and refurbished in 2016. They have a great menu if you pass by hungry. You will find it at 27 Wellington St, Bunbury.
Fintan Magee
We then headed up the main street to the cinema where we found the Fintan Magee mural we had come in search of on the south-facing wall at The Grand Cinema.
Fintan Magee says of the work, “it is a piece in a series of figures reflecting the housing crisis in the USA and natural disasters from my own personal experiences”. It was painted for the Re.Discover Exhibition in 2015.

Beastman and Phibs
Located right next to this is the collaboration between Sydney based artists Beastman (Bradley Eastman) and PHIBS (Tim De Haan). The two often work together producing repetitive geometric designs that are mesmerising.
There is a second Beastman work at the Rear Carpark at the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries. If you are visiting Sydney, there is plenty of Beastman’s work in the Inner west.
Vans the Omega
Next up we have Adelaide born artist Vans the Omega (Joel Van Moore) who painted a portrait of Tasmanian musician Claire Ann Taylor.
Painted for the 2016 festival, you will find it in a laneway off Sterling Street.
Stormie Mills
Perth artist Stormie Mills has two murals in town, pained for the 2014 and 2015 Re.Discover projects. We missed snapping these but did capture this electricity box.
Mills characters are instantly recognisable. You will find his other works in Parkfield Street and Prinsep Street.
Re.Discover Jam Wall
This long wall full of art at Souths Furniture Laneway, Wellington Street and Prinsep Street has plenty to catch your attention. These two murals were by artists we had not seen before.
Kyle Hughes-Odgers
We first saw Kyle Hughes-Odgers work in Perth and have since become firm fans. Perth based he is a painter illustrator who has produced several children’s books.
This wall is at Lost Bills on Victoria Street. You can find other examples of his work in Newtown in Sydney and on the Silo Art Trail in Merredin WA.
Gemma O’Brien
Gemma O’Brien is a Sydney born artist whose works feature bold lettering mixed with patterns and florals.
You will find her Rebel mural behind Minx Hairdressing in a Lane-way off Victoria Street. If you are in Sydney, she has recently created a wall inside the new Tiffany store. She has also created work for Lizzo, Google and Glasshouse Candles and Fragrances.
